Nuts about home

Written on 11-08-14  somewhere above Bolivia

We were woken up on Sunday morning by Francois' alarm clock, as he had bravely decided the evening before to set off on his own towards the infamous Death Road. We, on the other hand, were a little weary (or some might say we chickened out) and opted for a relaxing last day in the bustling city of La Paz. This meant that for once, the alarm was not for us!

After a short lie in we headed out to the ???, the second main quarter of the city, comparable to Park Avenue, Knightsbridge or the 16eme arrondissement.

We walked through an organised market (a first during our Bolivian adventures), impressive cake shops and even saw a Stabilo stand, which immediately reminded us of all the luxuries of our occidental lifestyles that we have given up during the past 5 weeks, and were soon going to be reunited with.

In Bolivia street art is rife. In this area of town the paintings were educational and very cute.

After our stroll we decided to head towards the various restaurants which were recommended by the guide. From cheese or chocolate fondues to spicy Mexican quesadillas, not bypassing Chinese and salad bars... all we had to do was choose. And so we did....
After a quick stroll through the first Bolivian Supermercado of our entire trip, we opted for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Yes, you read correctly - out of all the scrumptious, mouthwatering options available we just couldn't resist this naughty treat. We grinned at each other as we crammed the sandwiches into our mouths, relishing the perfection of the mouthful which beholds the magic proportion of each ingredient.
Look at this oozing beauty ....

Well, it turns out it was oozing a little too much as Capucine's jeans quickly found out!

She managed to deal with the issue efficiently.

Extremely satisfied we digested our feast, chatting under the Bolivian sun. No we most definitely have not run out of things to gossip and giggle about, despite spending the last 5 weeks together like two peas in a pod!

We returned to our hotel and tipped our room upside down as we methodically repacked our loyal backpacks, desperately trying to squeeze in all our presents, souvenirs and dirty washing.

After a quick (hot) shower we hurried out for our last meal with Francois, who frantically described his perilous ride as we eagerly dug into our pasta.
